Simon, Simon – Who is Simon’s Son?

John 13:1-4

1Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.2And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;3Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;4He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

If you take the commas out of this sentences this is what you get:

2And supper being ended the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot Simon’s son to betray him;

That kind of changes the meaning quite a bit!

You could look at this verse and see that Simon’s son would betray Judas Iscariot or

you could look at the sentence and see that Judas Iscariot is Simon’s son.

Either way….. it is Simon’s son that betrays!

Here is an article about Judas Iscariot. Offers a few different theories about the part that Judas Iscariot has in Jesus Christ.

John 13:5-8

5After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.6Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?7Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.8Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

Judas Iscariot is present at this time and John does not say that Jesus skipped over Judas’ feet. Kind of like the non-kiss in the garden (at least in the gospel of John).

Please read the post: An Holy Kiss

Simon Peter is the person that is about to have his feet washed, also known as Peter, Son of Jonas. So his last name is not Simon (belonging to the family of Jonas). So Simon Peter is not the son of Simon, he is the son of Jonas, where as the betrayer is the son of Simon which could be Judas Iscariot who is generally accepted as the betrayer, or the person who betrayed who is called Simon’s son. In any case, it is Simon’s son who is the betrayer.

So the big question is Who is SIMON?

Is SIMON the Simon spoken of that bears the cross after Jesus in the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke (synoptic gospels) who is called Simon of Cyrene?

I think it is important to know who this Simon is.  It seemed important in the gospel of Luke to add:

Luke 22:31

And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

When you make dough- you sift the flour with salt, baking powder (or soda, cant remember) and yeast so that it will rise. You combine the ingredients and then sift the ingredients together. That is what I think Luke is alluding to in this verse above. The mixing of the name Simon with another Simon so that people are confused as to who really is Simon. Why would Satan wish to do so?

Most people believe that Judas Iscariot is the betrayer, so why bother mixing Simons?

There must be a reason and there must be a reason for the verse:

John 13:2

And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;

How does John know what the devil is doing?

If you take out verse 2 of John 13:1-4 it seems to flow very well.

Lets try:

John 13:1-4

1Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end 3Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;4He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

What is interesting about this is when the first meeting after Jesus Christ has arisen with his disciples behind closed doors for fear of the Jews the only person missing is

Thomas (in the gospel of John!)

John 20:24

24But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

I’m assuming that Judas Iscariot was there, being one of the twelve!

Odd !

————————————————-

There must be a reason for Jesus calling Peter (at Galilee after his resurrection) Son of Jonas, to let us know that Peter is not the betrayer and he is not the son of Simon,

yet he surnames Simon Peter – Cephas (stone.)

Or does He?

John 1:42

And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona:

thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

Jesus does not do things arbitrarily to hurt us (but the deceiver does.) There are reasons behind this dilemma that should be resolved instead of making assumptions, or blowing it off. This clarification must have been important to Jesus to have made or Jesus the Messiah would not have made it.

Now the Roman Catholic Church has built their church on the premise of what is said by Jesus Christ in the synoptic gospels about Simon Peter who is called Cephas (stone), but that Peter is the rock that Jesus Christ will build his church upon, but that is not what Jesus Christ would have meant and, if so then when was Peter rejected?

Matthew 21:42

Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

Mark 12:10

And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

Luke 20:17

And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

The gospel of John says nothing about the stone which the builder’s reject will become the head of the corner!

So we have the synoptic gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke saying that the stone that is rejected will become the head of the corner and they are very pleased about it, too! But just because Jesus says that Peter shall be called Cephas does not mean he is renaming Peter! Throughout the gospel of John when Jesus speaks to Peter he never calls him by the name of Cephas. All he said is that Cephas is what Peter shall be called.

——————————————————-

*In my opinion, Jesus Christ was prophesying that Peter shall be called Cephas,

but not by Him!

——————————————————-

Whoever wrote Galations and 1Corinthians did call Peter by the name of Cephas!

1 Corinthians 1:12, 1 Corinthians 3:22, 1 Corinthians 9:5, 1 Corinthians 15:5, Galatians 2:9

I contend that the synoptic gospels are either false, or heavily sifted and salted and that is why they do not agree with the gospel of John which I believe is the truest gospel. When was Peter rejected? It was Jesus Christ who was rejected, not Peter. Peter is very well established in the  biggest and most powerful “church” on earth. But which Peter?

Psalm 118:8-9

8It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. 9It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

Does not say that Peter is the stone that the builder’s rejected either. However Psalm 118:8-9 says it is better not to put confidence in man, and Peter was a man, and so was Saul/Paul of Tarsus, and all of the Popes (which coincidentally are also princes.)

Matthew 16:15-17

15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 16:18

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church;

and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

And if the above verses are true, then how come these articles below and many more lately and in their bloody past that are recorded?

THAT IS THEIR WAY!

Their own witness proves that the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke are false gospels! These are the gospels they promote and that they have built their church upon while suffocating/burying, denigrating and demoting the gospel of John.

The synoptic gospels do not agree with the gospel of John on many, many occasions and both cannot be right, unless of course, there is an imposter of Jesus Christ.

Most everyone that is interested in bible prophecy think there will be a great imposter in the future i.e. “the antichrist.”  I think he already came and is here presently:

Matthew 13:33
Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven,
which a woman took,

andhid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

Luke 13:21
It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

That ought to make one ponder!

I have heard that in bible lingo, a woman is a church!

Revelation 17:8

8The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

==================================

Who is Simon? Who is Simon’s son? How many Simons are there?

Here is a list of all the Simon’s in the bible:

St. Simon the Apostle

Luke 22:31

And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

That’s a pretty ominous and menacing statement!

Luke was not at the last supper with the apostles and Jesus Christ, so how would he know what Jesus Christ said?

I think it is important to identify who this person/persons (Simons) are and unravel the identities of the different Peters in the synoptic gospels , the gospel of John, Acts and so forth!
